Some database systems are frustrating, poorly designed, restricting and difficult to use.
We will help your organisation’s database become your friend, helping you organise your information and make reports efficiently.
We understand the database user - we demystify databases, making them user-friendly and intuitive to use.
We bring years of experience as both database users and designers to meet your needs, and fit with the clients and services that you provide.

Are you looking for advice on what you actually need from a database? Perhaps a simple spreadsheet will do, or maybe there is a software package or Open Source solution that could meet your needs.
Do you need a desktop or a web-based database ?
Maybe you do need an individual database designed for your specific requirements, such as....
  • Recording clients, the services that you deliver and outcomes
  • Booking and running training programmes and courses
  • Running a Community Centre and booking room hire
  • Keeping track of complex personnel HR records
  • Maintaining a directory of support resources
  • Reporting non-financial client profile, activity & outcome data to your funders
  • Being able to interrogate your data in what ever way you need
All our databases provide the information you need at the click of a button, using Windows or open source software without additional program costs.

Firstly we will look at your specific requirements, review your existing paperwork (eg client registration forms) and reporting requirements in detail, to get an understanding of your organisation.
We will show you examples of databases that we have already built, to give you an idea as to what is possible before we suggest what might work for you.
We will write a detailed and costed specification on your database design requirements.
Tailor the design to meet your precise needs, in accordance with the way that your organisation works.
Investigate any existing data that you have, with a view to importing it into the new database and avoid duplication.
We will provide hands-on training, while you input real data and then give ongoing support by telephone, onsite or remote access, when you request it on an “as-used” basis.
Continuing design & improvements to meet the changing requirements of your organisation - we can even train you to design your own database or to add to our work.
The database will always be yours - we do not hold any intellectual copyright or licence on the systems that we design.

Our clients speak for themselves
Room 13 is an independent, highly acclaimed, child led arts and enterprise project working with children at Hareclive Primary School in Hartcliffe, south Bristol. We needed to be able to measure the numbers of children making use of our project and analyse this by when they came and who they were (age, gender, ethnicity, free school meals). We also wanted to record other information about children who were particularly involved in the project. We needed a database that could do this, whilst still being as simple and user-friendly as possible: children are involved in all aspects of running Room 13, and 10 or 11 year olds might well be inputting data or looking things up; and no adult within our very small team is particularly IT minded. We also needed something that was affordable and possible for us, as Room 13 achieves a great deal on limited resources. Tim of Co-opportunity delivered all of this. We have a data base that fits our brief and is very simple to use at the level of looking up information and inputting. It was affordable, thanks to Tim offering us a slightly discounted rate for charities and community groups. It was developed to our time deadlines. And it was all done in a friendly, supportive way. We now have an ongoing relationship with Co-opportunity: queries are handled quickly and clearly; and we have been able to buy in extra training and support around producing reports and presenting data. Having this database has completely changed how we can talk about our project to funders and other supporters. It gives us incredibly valuable information that really helps to demonstrate how well Room 13 is used - which turns out to be even more than we had estimated in our heads. Tim is very knowledgeable and takes great care with work and has attention to detail, and this combination means that he has also - along the way - pointed out many tips and suggestions for making our IT systems and work more effective, which we greatly appreciate. We very much recommend Co-opportunity and feel that they genuinely care about helping the projects they work with be more effective.

Myself and other colleagues working at the University of the West of England, Bristol have benefited enormously from the approach and work of Tim and his colleagues at Co-opportunity. We have collaborated on two projects and two bids for research funding. As a social enterprise Co-opportunity has the experience and patience to work with a range of partners from all sectors. They helped us to support ten third sector organizations, many engaging with database and database management for the first time, and we found Co-opportunity to be helpful, supportive and efficient in managing their and our IT needs. This is especially vital for working with partners who were reluctant engagers with IT. We found that Tim was able to resolve any technical issues or questions in a manner that maintained our partner’s confidence ensuring buy-in to the research process. This reduced our stress levels and we have, and continue to, recommend Co-opportunity to other partners.
